How I collect and use your personal information?
I do not gather any personal data from you on this website unless you voluntarily provide it, such as through the contact form, comments on my blog posts, via email, or testimonials. Any information you share in this manner remains strictly confidential and is not shared with third parties. I utilise this information solely for the purpose for which it was provided, ensuring its appropriate use in line with your intentions.
What information I might ask for?
When seeking an assessment, I will need essential personal information about you and your child to facilitate contact and schedule the assessment. During the assessment, background details about your child's health, developmental, linguistic, and educational history will be requested. These details help create a holistic understanding of your child's situation and identify possible influences on their literacy challenges. Additionally, I might inquire about any family history of specific learning difficulties. If pertinent and with your consent, these details, without specific names, may be included in the final report for a comprehensive assessment. Finally, I will also make contact with your child's school to gain an understanding of their performance within the classroom.
How will I handle your data?
I handle any potentially identifiable information in compliance with GDPR regulations, processing personal data only on legitimate grounds and ensuring fairness and legality in all processing activities. Operating within the SpLD sector, I uphold strict confidentiality, utilising information solely for assessment purposes. Your personal data is handled directly by me. Electronic reports are securely stored on my password-protected personal computer system. I do not engage in selling, renting, or exchanging your personal data with any third parties, nor do I share your information with third-party entities for marketing purposes. I solely use your contact details to provide necessary information, arrange visits, or issue invoices and assessment reports. The decision to share the report with your child’s school or other third parties remains entirely up to you.
How long will I store your data for?
I will store personal records including the report, assessments and their results, completed questionnaires, and any other personal documents, in a password-secured computer for 7 years. During this time, you can request for a copy of the report, but I strongly recommend to keep a copy of your/your child's report securely. After this time, I will not be able to supply you with a copy of the report.
Definitions
I use 'Dyslexic Mind Assessments' to refer to myself and vice versa. I currently work independently as a single service provider, i.e., dyslexia specialist and assessor.
